Question?

What is One Cent Movement?

One Cent Movement is a non-profit based in Singapore. We believe businesses can make a difference to society. By pledging at least one cent from every transaction they make, businesses can use that small change to make a big difference. It's just common cents.

How does it work?

1. Take the pledge. Commit at least one cent from every transaction to the charities of your choice.
2. Continue your business as usual.
3. At fixed periods of the year (determined by you!), we will send you a friendly reminder to look at the number of transactions you have recorded for that period and to tabulate your resultant donations. We will then give you a direct donation link to make the giving process easy.
4. Donate! We will provide you a direct donation link to make this process happen.

Can I donate more than one cent?

Of course. While we hope that businesses will pledge at least one cent per transaction, you can make a bigger difference by pledging 10 cents, a dollar or even 10 dollars for every transaction that takes place!

Can my business donate to a charity that is not based in my country?

Yes. However, we would highly recommended that businesses donate to local charities. This will minimise foreign exchange costs and maximise each cent’s impact.

What fees are involved?

One Cent Movement believes in donating 100% of the proceeds to charity. Please note, however, that a small amount will be taken by our payment provider (currently PayPal, which takes 2.2%-2.9% + 30 cents) for every donation you make.

Does One Cent Movement handle the funds at any time during the donation process?

No. One Cent Movement does not handle a single cent – we simply facilitate.

Can my business do more?

Of course! We have other ways of implementing a donation logic into your business, e.g. checkout cart round up. Talk to us and find out more at contact@onecentmovement.org.

My charity is interested in becoming a recipient of the movement. What do I do now?

Click here to fill up a charity form. Our friendly team will get back to you as soon as possible, and let you know if you are eligible to join.

Can any charity join the movement?

You are automatically eligible as long as you are a registered charity with tax deductible status. If you do not have tax deductible status, we will need to do further due diligence. This is to ensure that you are operating under a transparent and accountable charity framework.

My business currently has no cause that we feel strongly about. What should we do?

Don't worry - we are here to help! Drop us a mail at contact@onecentmovement. Let us help you find a cause that you identify with and feel committed to.

I want to participate in the movement! But I'm only just an individual. Can I still make a difference?

For now, we are targeting businesses, but we are making plans to let individuals participate in this movement soon. Click here to receive the latest updates on this! Click here to receive the latest updates on this!
